KEW GARDENS

One of the articles I've read talks about the Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew), in the southwest of London.
There are flowers and plants of every colour, but the dominant colour is green.

This place is very good to educate people to save the plants, also those threatened, because they're one of the casualties of the climate changement.
This place opened to public in 1841 and the plants started to be imported from all over the world.
One of the most popular attractions in this place are the giant glasshouses because they contain the Chilean wine palm, the tallest plant in the world!
It's also beautiful hearing the birdsong and the buzz of insects: you feel like to stay in a wonderful green world!

MY SUMMER HOLIDAY

I think my best journey was that at the National Park, in Abruzzo, last summer. I went with my friends and we travelled by car, but we walked to visit the park. I could see lots of plants and wild flowers and I heard a birdsong that was very nice! 
I smelt a really "green" air!
We stayed there only a day. When I came back home, I felt really happy and thought it had been a really good experience!

NEW YORK

I'd like very much visiting New York, the city "that never sleeps", because I could admire lots of really beautiful buildings, monuments and see lots of lights in the evening!  

I also know that it's called "big apple" because of its shape, but it's got some negative aspects too, for example, it's too expensive living there.

I think I'd like so much seeing the city from an airplane! 

There are also lots of shops and big magazines, but I'm not sure I've got so much money to buy something: I'd like only watching them from outside! :-P

 

THE CANTERVILLE GHOST

Lord and Lady Canterville lived in a big old castle. There were some strange noises down the corridor and some blood on the floor. They decided to sell their house.
The Otis family bought it: they were American, they came from a modern coutry and they didn't believe in ghosts.
Their children saw the blood on the floor in the library and an old woman told them about ghost that stayed in the house. It was the Simon of Canterville's ghost, that killed his wife in 1575. He died nine years later and now all is strange and scared in the house; they couldn't clean the floor beacuse the blood riappeared.
One night, they saw the ghost and laughed very much! So the ghost was angry!
Later, he said that he coldn't sleep because he made a big mistake when he was alive. So, Virginia, one of the Otis' children, helped Simon and she was so satisfied! She said her family that the ghost was happy and now he could sleep!

SARCASTIC ART

It's a modern kind of art, that consists in pictures, photos and collages, representing someone or something, transformed to befool, critisize or ironize it.
We can find this type of art also in cartoons and popular papers. One of the most important artists is Micht Griffiths.
It asserted in the 80's with the first kinds of ironies. Their finality is about critisize also politic men, so, many times, there are really big problems, like conflicts and attempts for it.

CASUAL TREND

It's a really soft kind of trend. It's followed by boys and girls and the so called "casual uniform" is made up of "jeans and T-shirt". Now sometimes are used also bangles and simple necklaces to casual trend but, in the past, it wasn't right! I like it beacause it's my style... but, from this, derive also other kinds of trends, like Punk!

 

NATURAL PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD

THE OZONE HOLE

Another problem we know in these years is that of the ozone hole, caused by the UV rays with the pollution. It happens that the rays enter because the layers of the atmosphere are being destroyed. This problem is causing lots of things, like a bigger number of blond people with clear eyes or freckles and their skins are really weak at the sun rays. This phenomenon started to increase in 2006.

THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT

There are also other problems about our environment, for example, in these years we're seeing the greenhouse effect, caused by a strong increase of the temperatures in the atmosphere, thanks to the UV rays, that can enter but can't go out; so, with all the kinds of pollution, it could create really difficult problems. It's called so beacause it happens like in the greenhouses with the sun rays.

THE GLOBAL WARMING

Meteorologists are discovering an increase of the temperatures in the world that can be very bad for us. It causes lots of climate changements and derives from the pollution. It may cause the extintion of lots kinds of plants and animals, the eutrophication and other very bad aftermathes, like the glacial dissolution and a desertification.

MY LAST BLOG

Last year my blog's adress was "cambridge33"... now I've changed my adress... it's my new blog and I'll use it during my new school year! I hope it's going to be a good year!! :D
